Software & Workflow

CDMS software built around the way researchers work

The CDMS measurement is only the beginning. Researchers still need to review the data, understand the mass distribution, compare experiments and communicate the result.

TrueMass develops software specifically for Charge Detection Mass Spectrometry. The objective is simple: make the path from acquisition to interpretation as clear and efficient as possible.

Built for CDMS

Built for CDMS, not adapted from a generic workflow

CDMS produces individual-ion data and population-level mass distributions. That creates a different set of practical questions from many conventional mass spectrometry workflows.

Those questions guide software development because they reflect what researchers are actually trying to do with the measurement.

  • How do two datasets compare?
  • Has the distribution shifted?
  • Can a population be seen more clearly?
  • Is the acquisition producing data worth analysing?
  • Can the result be prepared for a presentation or report without rebuilding the work elsewhere?

Direct contact

A short feedback loop

TrueMass is focused on CDMS, so researchers can discuss software and data questions directly with people working on the technology. Useful workflow feedback does not need to travel through layers of unrelated product development before it can be understood.

That does not mean every request becomes a feature. It means a worthwhile idea can be assessed quickly, while the scientific problem is still current, and considered in the context of how other CDMS users work.

Problem first

Development starts with the scientific problem

Researchers rarely ask for software features for their own sake. They ask to compare datasets more easily, reduce repetitive work, prepare clearer figures or get from acquisition to an answer more quickly.

We start with that problem. If the workflow can be improved, the software should solve the scientific need without adding unnecessary complexity.

From acquisition to interpretation

The jobs that matter in a CDMS workflow

TrueMass software development is centred on the jobs that matter in a CDMS workflow. Specific capabilities will continue to develop as CDMS applications and user workflows develop. The principle remains the same: software should make the measurement easier to use, not create another layer of work around it.

Reviewing acquisition and data quality

See early whether an acquisition is producing data worth analysing.

Visualising mass distributions clearly

Show populations, widths and high-mass species in a form that is easy to read.

Comparing experiments and identifying changes

Put datasets side by side and see whether a distribution has shifted or broadened.

Reducing repetitive manual data handling

Fewer exports and rebuilt comparisons between acquisition and answer.

Preparing results for scientific communication

Figures and summaries ready for a presentation or report.

Customer questions

Customer questions shape the build

We are beginning to share the scientific and workflow questions behind selected software developments. Instead of publishing a feature list without context, we will explain the problem, why it mattered and how the workflow changed.
